Todd says “hi” to start the episode and lets the Atlantis crew know that a Wraith has a ZPM. Once brought to Atlantis, he explains everything to Woolsey. It took the Wraith a year to interface the ZPM with a Hive ship and in doing so, it will be the best Hive ship ever!
“And this Hive will be unstoppable” - Todd
The new Hive ship has multiple advantages. It can see through cloaks, it has a nearly impenetrable hull, and stronger, more effective weapons. It creates some amazingly suspenseful scenes as the new Hive ship takes on the Daedalus before jumping to hyperspace. The Hive ship received the subspace message from the other reality that the Vegas episode was in. The message gives the location of Earth to the Wraith.
We get to see Samantha Carter, which is nice as it has always seemed like they left things at a weird point when she left the show and Woolsey took command. They give a nod to General Hammond, in memory of Don S. Davis’ recent death. They re-name a ship after him, which Carter will be in command of once complete.
I don’t want to give a bunch of spoilers, and so I will just say, “what a fun episode.” I don’t know if it was the caffeine I was drinking during the episode, or just how great the episode was, but I definitely give Enemy at the Gate a 5 out of 5. What a great high-note to end on.
With the series now over, I turn my attention to the upcoming Stargate: Universe which will start sometime in the summer/fall of 2009.
